Copper Plate

This is the copper plate from as assignment I am currently working on. Once the I get the time I'll scan and upload the actual prints from this plate.

The process of copper plate printing is fascinating, I suggest everyone try it out at least once if you have the resources. Etching into the copper is literally like slicing into a juicy, metal-ly piece of butter, surprisingly soft and overly sensitive to scratches of any kind. After doing the etching you rub ink into the plate and subsequently remove it in a labor intensive process of rubbing the plate across several layers of cheese cloth. Once all the ink is gone from the plate except for what is caught in the grooves you take the plate over the a really big roll press, place the plate down and put some paper over it. Roll the big metal wheel around a few times and BAM, you've created a copper plate (dry point) etching. Bleh
